![]() Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): Offering them to others beside Allah puts a person beyond the pale of Islam. Prayer and sacrifice have to be offered solely for Allah. Sacrifice comprises the servant drawing closer to Allah by his sacrificing the best animals he has and expending his wealth which man naturally loves and hoards. The prayer comprises submission of the heart and limbs to Allah and the body’s moving from one posture of servitude to another. In this verse prayer and sacrifice have been mentioned specifically because they are two of the best acts of worship and means of drawing close to Allah. Īfter mentioning the blessings that have been conferred upon Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), Allah orders him to show gratitude. So from this goodness is included the river in Paradise. Because the word Al-Kauthar comes from the word Kathrah (abundance) and it (Al-Kawthar) linguistically means an abundance of goodness. This explanation (Al-Kauthar referring to abundant goodness) includes the river in Paradise and other things as well. ![]() “(Al-Kauthar) is the good which Allah gave to him (Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)).” Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas, the cousin of the Prophet and the great commentator of the Qur’an said: Its containers are as numerous as the stars in the sky.” Īccording to some commentators of the Qur’an, Al-Kauthar refers to abundant goodness. It is a pond where my Ummah (followers) will be brought to on the Day of Judgment. “Verily, it (Al-Kauthar) is a river that my Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, has promised me and it has abundant goodness. Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) will be given Al-Kauthar on the Day of Judgment to quench the thirst of his true followers. It is whiter than milk and sweeter than honey.” “It is a river in Paradise which my Lord has given me. I asked (Angel) Jibraîl, ‘What is this (river)?’ He replied, ‘This is Al-Kauthar.’” “(On the night of Al-Mi’raj) I came upon a river (in Paradise) the banks of which were made of tents of hollow pearls. Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) witnessed this river on the night of Al-Mi’raj (ascension to the heavens).
